AI Superior & Boehringer Ingelheim Publish a Joint Survey Paper for MIDL 2023

We are proud to announce our recent collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim on a survey paper titled “A comparative evaluation of image-to-image translation methods for stain transfer in histopathology”, that has been accepted at the prestigious Medical Imaging with Deep Learning (MIDL 2023) conference.

Our study thoroughly evaluates twelve stain transfer approaches, consisting of three traditional and nine GAN-based image processing methods. Relying on complementary quantitative measures and visual evaluations by pathologists, the research compares the strengths and weaknesses of each stain transfer approach, providing valuable insights for advancing histopathology and empowering researchers and medical professionals to make informed decisions.

This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone in the application of AI and deep learning in histopathology and paves the way for future advancements in medical imaging and diagnostics.

The survey paper is now available for download here and, in line with our commitment to fostering collaboration and progress, we are delighted to release the code for the comparative evaluation framework under an open-source license.
